Norlan continues to work hard as he finishes 5th grade. His best grades are 90% in PE, 81% in Social Studies and 80% in Math. Norlan loves his math class and has enjoyed learning long division. Thanks to his sponsorship, Norlan was able to receive medicine that he needed to treat his kidney problems. Norlan’s mom left the country briefly to take a job in Costa Rica. While she was gone, Norlan and his younger sister, Blanca, lived with their grandma. Thankfully his mom has returned home. Norlan is happy to have his entire family under one roof again. His mom has since been able to find work in the shrimping factory in the next city.
