New Song’s moringa team cultivates moringa for “intensive leaf harvest” to combat dietary relate illnesses in Nicaragua. They harvest 3 lots per week and re-harvest the same lots in 45 days, providing a continual supply of 200 pounds of super food powder a month. Plans to triple production to 300+ pounds per month by October 2015 and beginning US sales, give promise to sustain the mission within 5 years.

The leaves of these trees contain a plethora of essential vitamins, minerals, amino acids and essential fatty acid. The moringa leaves are organically cultivated, harvested, washed, gently hand stripped, air-dried between 96-102 F and finely ground into a powder within one day to protect the nutrients. The powder can be added to any food or drink increasing nutrient intake or capsules can be taken. New Song supplies all of the Pastors and workers and many of the poor in our community with this superfood and are thankful for the enormous health benefits. We offer community classes that will teach the nutritional benefits of moringa and provide locals this nutrient-rich powder at affordable prices  We believe that this project will create a realistic,  more affordable way to increase nutrition and health for malnourished families with dietary related illnesses.

New Song’s moringa team has cultivated 1 1/2 acres of moringa for intensive leaf harvest in 2014.They harvest a lot every 3-4 days and re-harvest the same lot within 45-60 days, providing a continual supply of 20 pounds of super food powder a month. 200 trees have been planted that will provide millions of seeds in the next few years. The leaves of these trees contain a plethora of essential vitamins, minerals, amino acids and essential fatty acid. The moringa leaves can be dried and made into a powder that can be added to any food or drink increasing nutrient intake without changing the taste of the food. We are planting these trees with the intention of offering community classes that will teach the nutritional benefits of moringa, demonstrate to families how to use this powder to increase health for their families, and provide locals with access to this nutrient-rich powder. We believe that this project will create a more affordable way to increase nutrition and health for impoverished families.

Moringa oleifera grows in tropical and sub-tropical parts of the world.  It is difficult to avoid superlatives when describing Moringaoleifera’s value as a food source. It is rich in protein, calcium, magnesium, potassium, iron, vitamin A and vitamin C. Researchers from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Ghana examined the nutritional value of Moringa leaves. The researchers found that Moringa leaves had 2009 mg of calcium per 100 g — about 3.5 oz. by weight. That’s more calcium than 6 cups of milk. Moringa is also rich in iron. The researchers found that 100 g of Moringa leaves have 28 mg of iron — more than 7oz. of chicken liver or 9 oz. of beef tenderloin.
